location: bengaluru, ka
status: completed (2023)
scope: renovation, interior design
built-up area: 2,800 sft
(4.5 bedrooms)
The Amarnath apartment was designed for a family of four. There was a conscious effort made to keep the interiors minimal & bold, making the most of the tight budget & timeline. Some existing furniture in the apartment was salvaged and given a new face, while the rest was stripped down (kitchen, beds, small partition walls, etc). The large hall upon entering the house was designed to be fragmented using partition storage walls; a formal and informal living room separated with an entrance walkway in the middle. The ‘mandir’ of the home also became a part of these partitions while following Vaastu principles. The common areas consist of a muted warm palette with the usage of wooden textures, while the personal spaces of the home consist of added complimentary accents based on personal tastes.
