Arun Memorial is an ‘ode’ from a father to his beloved son. Our approach to the memorial investigates the design potential of a ‘circle’ - which represents notions of totality, infinite eternity, timelessness & focus. This 5,000 sft of built space has been elevated with an identifiable character achieved using circles of different diameters in repetitive patterns. Arun’s photo has been strategically located to create a focus point along the central axis. An octagonal skylight has been provided on the circular roof of the central podium for natural light to filter in & rain drops to reach the tombstone through the circular aperture right above. Natural light penetrating through the octagonal skylights adds to the ambience of remembrance.
